After scoring a seventh-place result at the Detroit Grand Prix in 2021, Christian Bogle returns to the tricky street course this coming weekend for another double header weekend. Set to take on rounds five and six of the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires, Bogle is aiming to reset his Indy Lights career and season best result during the double header race weekend at Belle Isle.
“I love Belle Isle, and the track really suits me,” explained Christian Bogle. “I had a good result there last year, and I think this year, with HMD Motorsports, I will be able to improve on that. One of the major items on a street course is to stay out of trouble so I will aim to keep my nose clean, progress through our practice and qualifying sessions and see what we can accomplish in race trim.”
Kicking off the event weekend with a fifty minute practice session on Friday afternoon, qualifying for races one and two on the weekend will take place early on Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon will be the home of the first wheel-to-wheel action on the weekend while Sunday will see Bogle and the rest of the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Championship drivers compete in race two, just prior to the start of the NTT INDYCAR Series event.
Bogle continued, “Looking back to our first and only street race of 2022, I had good pace and should have qualified better. A mistake in the race saw me further down the finishing order than I should have been, but I will look to turn those around this weekend. Detroit is another one of those barrier lined circuits that a driver needs to be cautiously aggressive and work up to it.”
