Heading into a long Independence Day weekend, Christian Bogle will once again be back behind the wheel of his HMD Motorsports #7 for the seventh round of the 2023 INDY NXT by Firestone season at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Competing alongside his HMD Motorsports teammates, Bogle will look for a strong showing in his Pelican Energy Consultants branded Dallara IL-15.
Finishing out the first half of the season, Bogle has earned a pair of top-ten results in the opening six rounds with a season-best finish of sixth at Detroit a few weeks ago. While he currently sits 16th in the Championship, only 15 points separate Bogle from the top-ten in an extremely tight championship battle.
In his past two seasons in INDY NXT by Firestone, Bogle has improved each time he has returned to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course’s 13-turn road course. In 2021, Bogle finished 13th and tenth in the then double-header weekend. Last season, Bogle continued to improve and gained three positions during the race to finish in seventh.
With a much tighter field this season, Bogle has gained plenty of experience racing side-by-side and moving up through the field in multiple races this year.
“The field in INDY NXT is strong this season but we have had a few good tests recently, and I am feeling confident,” he explained. “I am looking forward to Mid-Ohio and then the oval in Iowa.”
INDY NXT by Firestone will take to the track four times this weekend with an opening practice session on Friday, followed by an additional practice before qualifying on Saturday. The green flag will wave for the 35-lap INDY NXT by Firestone Grand Prix at Mid-Ohio at 11:40 AM ET on Sunday ahead of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES race.
