Christian Bogle Ready to Turn Left in Iowa This Weekend

For the first time this season, Christian Bogle and HMD Motorsports with Dale Coyne Racing will take on an oval track at Iowa Speedway this weekend. After competing solely on road and street courses so far this year, the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Championship will run on the 0.875-mile tri-oval for the ninth round of the 2022 season.

Last season, Indy Lights did not run at Iowa Speedway, but Christian Bogle was able to experience a short oval track in an Indy Lights car at World Wide Technology Raceway where he claimed top-ten finishes in the double-header weekend.

Last month, Bogle and HMD Motorsports also took part in a series test at Iowa Speedway in preparation for this weekend’s event. With only one 50-minute practice session this weekend, the series test and previous oval experience from last year will prove valuable as Bogle gets up to speed in preparation for qualifying and the 75-lap race on Saturday afternoon.

With a qualifying format that differs from the road and street courses, each driver will be given two at-speed laps and the combined total time will set the grid for Saturday’s wheel-to-wheel action.

“I am ready,” expressed Bogle. “We had a good test and I think our program structure allows all drivers to learn from one another. It will be key to qualify well and stay clean in the race!”

Returning alongside the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and big-name concert performances, this weekend in Iowa will bring substantial attention to the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Championship.
