This weekend kicked off the first bit of track action for the Month of May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The INDY NXT by Firestone series took part in their first doubleheader event of the season, a quick, two-day event on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. Competing in his fourth Indianapolis Grand Prix weekend, HMD Motorsports driver Christian Bogle managed to top his results from 2023.

After a single practice and qualifying, Bogle and the rest of the field were ready for a late race on Friday evening after the conclusion of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES qualifying. The starting positions for race one were set by the fastest lap overall in qualifying, while the race two grid was set by each driver’s second fastest lap. After an eventful battle in race one, Bogle crossed the finish line in ninth, his season’s best finish yet. Rested and ready for more on Saturday, the field saw their second green flag race in the afternoon, where Christian found himself in 15th at the checkered flag.

“Nothing beats racing around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in May,” explains Bogle. “After an engine change on Thursday, we scored the best finish of the season so far for the #7 Pelican Energy machine, so we’ll walk away happy, but there’s still work to do heading into the rest of the season.”

In June, the INDY NXT by Firestone series will see another doubleheader at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Until then, Bogle and the rest of HMD Motorsports will begin a busy stint of racing with a street course race in Downtown Detroit from May 31st through June 2nd.
