After a frightening crash at Road America three weeks ago, Christian Bogle is headed into the upcoming race weekend with renewed focused, the goal of a strong finish and getting back on track with continuing improvement. This weekend, HMD Motorsports with Dale Coyne Racing and Christian Bogle are headed to the 13-turn course of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the eighth round of the 2022 Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Championship.
Now at the halfway point of the season, Bogle is looking to turn everything he learned from the first seven rounds into results during the latter half of the year. Since joining HMD Motorsports for the season, Bogle has steadily shown improvement throughout the weekends. Earlier in May, the team tested at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and Bogle began working with a new engineer. Since then, the second year Indy Lights driver and his engineer have continued to improve their working relationship, resulting in a career-best finish of fourth in Detroit.
Since Road America, Bogle’s #7 Dallara has been completely rebuilt and is ready to take on the 2.258-mile road course. Last week, Bogle, HMD and the entire Indy Lights field tested at Iowa Speedway in a series test, giving the Indiana resident an opportunity to be back in the seat prior to race weekend.
“It was great to get back behind the wheel and restore the confidence I had before Mid-Ohio,” explained Bogle. “A huge thank you to the HMD Motorsports squad to go through the massive effort that they did. It is hard to explain the hoops that they needed to jump through, but also the appreciation for all the extra efforts. I hope I can make up for that this weekend with a great result.”
As a single-event weekend, the Indy Lights field will have two practice sessions – one on Friday and one on Saturday – before qualifying on Saturday afternoon. The 35-lap race will take place on Sunday morning just prior to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio.
Stay tuned to the Christian Bogle Racing social media pages for news, information, photos and results from the event weekend.
