With Danial Frost and Benjamin Pedersen already confirmed to the HMD Motorsports driver lineup, the 2021 Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Team Champions are pleased to welcome Christian Bogle to the Indianapolis based squad. Entering his second Indy Lights season, Bogle will look to take advantage of the HMD Motorsports wealth of knowledge and handful of drivers as he enters only his fourth season of motorsports and second in the top tier of the Road to Indy.
“I am still fairly new to motorsports compared to my competitors but feel the home I have found at HMD Motorsports will help accelerate my progress with the help of some very fast teammates,” explained Bogle. “We have had several test days together already and have been able to get to know one another. The way they have fit me to the car is the most comfortable I have ever been and that is showing in the on-track progress. They have welcomed me with open arms and surrounded me with the people that I need to improve as a driver.”
Kicking off their relationship at the Chris Griffis Test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at the end of October, Bogle has also been on track with HMD Motorsports at multiple test days at the Sebring International Raceway and another at Barber Motorsports Park. With additional tests planned at Sebring, the Homestead-Miami Speedway and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, Bogle will kick off his official season campaign late February in St. Petersburg. Showing growth from day one behind the HMD Motorsports car, Bogle is excited to get a fresh season started.
Bogle added, “We have set realistic goals for pre-season testing and then for the start of the 2022 race season. We plan to evaluate those goals mid-season and see where we stand, what is needed to improve and hopefully set new ones. The first test that we had together was a learning experience for both the team and I but now that we have found our footing, I am becoming more comfortable with the car, and it is noted by the decrease in the gap to the quickest drivers in the series.”
With the first green flag of the season less than three months down the road, Bogle will take part in several more test days with HMD Motorsports before the St. Petersburg Grand Prix February 25-27.
